Creating The Ultimate Ultra Bespoke Suit For London Craft Week
At Maurice Sedwell we are thrilled to be preparing for our 80th birthday celebrations! Maurice Sedwell Ltd was established in 1938 and incorporated on Savile Row in 1964. As celebrations for our birthday kick off in May, our Director and Master Tailor, Professor Andrew Ramroop OBE will be taking a leading part in London Craft Week’s celebration of Savile Row.
In collaboration with Mayfair’s Beaumont hotel founder and CEO, Jeremy King OBE, Savile Row tailors will bring to life the process of commissioning a bespoke capsule wardrobe. From 3rd - 7th May 2017 a number of tailors will produce an outfit for Jimmy Beaumont, a fictional character invented by Jeremy to inform the interior design of the 1926 hotel building!
Master Tailor Andrew Ramroop will be creating the centre piece of any gentleman’s wardrobe, the three piece suit. The suit will be the ultimate in limited edition, an Ultra Bespoke Delta Lapel Signature Style Suit. To create the pinnacle of Ultra Bespoke tailoring, Holland & Sherry Cloth Merchants have woven special cloth for Maurice Sedwell. The resulting suit will be displayed in Maurice Sedwell’s windows at 19 Savile Row from Thurs 27 April, as part of the LCW exhibition of Savile Row’s glamour and world class craftsmanship.
To mark this wonderful occasion, the company who has supplied Andrew Ramroop with tailoring shears for over 40 years, William Whiteley, will be documenting the process of turning cloth to suit. We share with you here a selection of images capturing the moment when Andrew Ramroop cut the specially woven cloth for his LCW suit – the start of the journey in creating the ultimate Ultra Bespoke suit.
